This article is from 2017 and is now out of date. By May half-term Spring has most definitely sprung all over Basildon Park. Pick up a picnic and explore our 400 acres of parkland; go for a long family walk, and bring the dog; or try out the new Great Ball Run launching this half-term.

Great Ball Run at Basildon Park

The Great Ball Run is launching again this May half-term at Basildon Park. Discover the new runs made by our creative outdoor team, and enjoy hours of fun with the family. It's a great way to explore the parkland at Basildon Park.

Take part by buying the Great Ball Run kit (valid for the whole summer once bought) costing £3 from the Visitor Centre.

Pick up a picnic

Visit the tea-room to pick up a pre-made picnic, and pop to the shop if you need a picnic rug to sit on out in the parkland.

From a clearing amongst the trees or a bench with a view to the Thames Valley, there are plenty of places to choose from to enjoy your picnic with the family. 

Dog walking

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome to join in with exploring outside, please do clean up after your dog though.

There are water bowls for dogs around the property and you can sit inside with your dog in the Old Kitchen opposite the tea-room, where you can find some complimentary dog biscuits as well.
