Summer outside at Basildon Park

The garden in the summer at Basildon Park, looking out over the Thames Valley

The outdoor space at Basildon Park is the ideal place to explore and play in, whatever your age, during the summer months. Bring the dog along for a family walk, laze in the gardens or look for wildlife out in the parkland.

There are four great parkland walks at Basildon that are ideal for exploring with your dog on a lead. The walks range in length from 0.5 miles to 3 miles. For a shorter walk take a stroll around the gardens towards the back of the house.

During the summer months there are cattle in the parkland, please keep your dog on a short lead when walking in areas where the cattle are grazing.

The Old Kitchen next to the tea-room is an indoor space you and your dog/s can relax in after your walk. There are complimentary dog biscuits on offer in this space too.

Summer garden

The pleasure ground at Basildon Park is a more secluded space to spend time relaxing on a summer’s day during July and August.

Enjoy the scents of summer blooms, or have a leisurely stroll through the gardens before having a cup of tea & some cake in the tea-room.

There are many different types of butterflies that appear at Basildon throughout July and August. Look out for these in the gardens, or on a parkland walk.

There are also cattle from the local farm grazing in the parkland during these months.
