Visiting Basildon Park during the Easter Holidays

Spending time with the family at Basildon Park is a wonderful way to celebrate the Easter period. Easter can be a busy time of the year here, especially the Easter weekend, so here are a few tips to make the most of your special day out.

The Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt at Basildon Park will run for the entire two weeks of the Easter school holidays this year, from the 4 - 19 April, so you have time to celebrate Easter before and after the busy Easter weekend. Here are some tips to make the most of your day.

Arrive nice and early

The busiest time of day at Basildon Park is usually between 11.30pm and 2pm. To avoid the rush, you could aim to arrive early in the morning or call by later in the afternoon. Our doors open from 10am and remain open until 4.30pm. Please pick up your Easter trail before 3.30pm so you have time to finish the trail and collect your prize.

Make a day of it and take your time

We’re open all day, so don’t feel you have to rush to complete the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt. Why not enjoy a picnic in the woods or explore further onto the parkland on one of the waymarked walks.

Be aware of limited parking

As we are often very dependent on the weather, our parking availability can change day to day. Hard standing spaces make up less than half of those available, so we often ask visitors to park in the overflow field. If this becomes saturated due to wet weather, we have to close it. In this instance and when our carparks become full, we have to operate a one in, one out system for visitors, and sometimes have to close the entrance gates temporarily.

Wet weather

Our Easter trail is in the Pheasant Park, a gated field in the parkland. If it has been raining, please dress appropriately for wet weather, and don't forget your wellies!

Keep an eye online for regular updates

We regularly update the website, Facebook and Twitter about any changes to parking availability, so make sure to check before setting off to Basildon Park.
