Wellbeing in January at Basildon Park 2016
This article was about our January activities at Basildon Park in 2016. We'll be updating this with 2017 event information later in the year.
Join us for an energising walk around our crisp winter parkland by taking part in our trail. The trail costs £2 (normal admission applies) and is suitable for all ages. Pick up the trail leaflet from our ticket office between 10am and 3pm every day until Sunday 31 January.
For those of you who want to take in the peace and tranquillity, there are four self-led waymarked trails ranging from 0.5 to 3 miles around our beautiful grounds. You can pick up a parkland map from the ticket office or download it below. If you’d like to hear more about our gardens and estate join one of our guided walks on a Friday, leaving the stable yard at 11am (normal admission applies).
After a bracing walk warm up with a hot chocolate or a tasty bowl of seasonal soup in our tea room, which is located on the ground floor of the house. There are, of course, plenty of scones and cakes available for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Shake the January blues further with some retail therapy in our shop. There are lots of seasonal items available and we have take away hot and cold drinks on offer in our parlour at the back of the shop.
At Home with Art exhibition
If the weather is unkind you can always feast your eyes on our exhibition At Home with Art in the South Pavilion. Discover treasures from the Brinsley Ford collection including impressive Old Masters and paintings of the Grand Tour. Find out more here.
We'll be your guide
Round off your visit to Basildon Park with a guided tour of the house. During the week there are hourly guided tours from 11am until 3pm, and at weekends the house is open for guided tours at 11 and 11:30am followed by free flow from 12pm until dusk. All tours are run on a timed ticket basis; please enquire at the ticket office on arrival. We do not take pre-bookings for guided tours.
