October half term at Beningbrough
Explore Beningbrough's fascinating and wonderful trees and all the wildlife that makes its home among the leaves and the branches with a week long programme of family activities showing off the season's best.
Saturday 26 October to Sunday 3 November 2019 (closed Monday)
Tree trail: There's an autumnal nip in the air, wrap up warm and follow the spotter trail through the gardens on any of the days throughout the week.
Leafy artrageous: Make a leafy bird’s nest from natural materials with artrageous on Sunday (27 October) and Thursday, in the Hayloft.* (12 noon - 3pm)
Bushcraft day: Take part in den building and tree bark rubbing on Tuesday. (Sign up to a session on arrival).
Storytelling: Join Story Craft Theatre on a promenade through the gardens on Wednesday (1.30-3.30pm) and Friday (all day).
Broomstick making: Work with witches and wizards of all sizes in the American Garden to create broomsticks from some of the magical trees on Wednesday.** (Sign up to a session on arrival).
(Nearly) naked tree walk: Join the garden team as they take you on a trail of discovery on Thursday and Friday (12 noon and 2pm). Meander through the estate, learn more about how the changing seasons impact on the trees and uncover the beauty of those which are nearly naked at this time of year.
*The hayloft is accessed by stairs only
**There's a charge of £3 to cover costs for this activity. Sign up to a session on the day, on a first come, first served basis. This activity is recommended for children 5 years and over.
Seasonal delights in the restaurant
We have a glut of autumn produce growing in the walled garden, so break up your busy day with a hearty meal and sweet treat to finish or grab a snack and drink in the new Brew House near the Wilderness Play Area.
