Birmingham Back to Backs in the local community

The launch of the OakMobile in Birmingham city centre, June 2013.

Set in the heart of Birmingham, the Back to Backs like to get involved with our surrounding community. We do this with educational projects, exhibitions and by hosting and participating in events by local groups.

Local diversity

The local area is diverse. Within a mile radius from the property, there are a number of communities which include Chinese, Irish, Muslim and African Caribbean along with the lively local Birmingham Markets, Gay and Chinese quarter.
We are keen to increase local engagement through our visitor experience and education programmes.

Summer challenge

Each summer, we have the summer challenge here at the Back to Backs.
We take a small group of young people and train them to be Back to Back tour guides. With this, they learn useful life skills.
