Maria Stuarda by OperaUpClose

Saturday 6 October 6-8pm (end time approximate)

Brimming with bloodshed and rivalry, Olivier Award-winning OperaUpClose bring two ferocious Tudor Queens to Canons Ashby in a concert performance of Donizetti's Maria Stuarda. Listen as Mary, Queen of Scots and Queen Elizabeth I go head-to-head in this historical tragedy, culminating in a fictitious meeting between the rival queens which sizzles with vocal fireworks. Donizetti's opera comes vividly to life in a new English translation in the beautiful acoustics of this medieval priory church, which was dissolved in the time of Henry VIII.  Hot drinks and programmes will be available to buy during the interval (cash only).
