How long have you worked on the North Coast and what is your role here?

I only started mid-March, so I’m still finding my feet! I am a Volunteering Assistant, so I do admin and help out with volunteer recruitment across the North Coast.

If you are keen to make your mark, or sharpen your skills, build your CV or just set yourself an exciting new challenge this summer, then please get in touch. You could meet some fantastic folk, and make some great memories tour guiding or helping out at one off events like the Kite Festival in August, or you could simply get some fresh air while gardening or keeping the places you love accessible for everyone to enjoy.

What is your favourite part of the job so far?

I’ve been quite office based so far while I am learning the ropes in my new role. The staff and volunteers are so warm and welcoming here, so I'd have to say meeting and getting to know all the lovely folk who do so much to help conserve the local environment and make our properties such a great place to visit.

Best memory of your time in the Trust?

I have to admit I am not the best at gardening, so one of our volunteers has been encouraging me to give it a try and with her help, I have just planted some sunflower seeds which hopefully will grow over the summer at Hezlett House. Everyone is so willing to share skills and so encouraging that it has made starting work here so easy.

Why do you think people like to visit the North Coast?

The North Coast is simply stunning whether it rains or shines, folk are so friendly and the Craic here is the best! I’ve travelled to many places and nowhere even comes close. Fact!

Tell us 3 interesting facts about yourself!

I’m not sure these are interesting, but maybe unexpected from a middle aged lady!

  • I can eat and breath fire
  • I've been on stage with Metallica (three years ago)!
  • I once got the Mayor of Swindon to take part in a mass whoopee cushion record breaking attempt at a volunteer celebration event! I like to make things fun.
