Enjoy some fresh air and get closer to nature this May. Take a walk through the house and discover stories from the past, roll up your sleeves and get green-fingered with the half-term activity - Plant it, grow it, eat it.

Saturday 27 May - Wednesday 31 May, 12.30pm - 2.30pm

Come along to this drop-in session and have fun planting your own seed. Start by decorating a pot in your choice of colour and design then plant a seed to take home. Watch it grow into something tasty to eat. This is a drop in session, please join us at any time between 12.30pm - 2.30pm.

Immerse yourself in history as one of the finest barns in England is brought to life through the power of storytelling. Largely unchanged since the seventeenth century, you'll hear how the Great Barn was constructed, what it was used for and how it helped to support the families who lived here.

Would you love to discover more about the collection? This is the perfect chance to learn about some of our favourite pieces here at East Riddlesden Hall. From intimate crewel and stump work to a strong box with its secret lock and beautiful lid inlay.

Butter in the barn

Do you know how butter was traditionally made? How long did it take? How was it stored? Find out more at our Butter in the Barn session.

Join our volunteer in the Great Barn and try your hand at the age old tradition of butter making. This fun, hands-on activity can be enjoyed by all the family.
