Ways to join in at East Riddlesden Hall

A costumed room guide volunteer talking to visitors

It’s the start of a new year and a great time to start planning for the year ahead. Whether you’re making a list of all the places you’d like to visit, the things you’d like to see and do, or the new hobbies that you’d like to try. If you’re thinking about volunteering and would like to find out more - we'd love to hear from you.

Volunteers are at the heart of East Riddlesden Hall, bringing with them skills and knowledge that are vital to help with our ongoing conservation, visitor welcome and fundraising.

There are lots of opportunities to get involved here: reception volunteers welcome visitors and help in the shop, tea-room volunteers help us to keep a smooth service running, room guide volunteers have a passion for sharing history, outdoor volunteers look after the gardens and grounds, and event volunteers help with anything from weddings, to making butter, to helping with the outdoor theatre.

Volunteering is a great way to use your existing skills and learn new ones too. You’ll meet new people and have the satisfaction of making a lasting impression for the thousands of visitors that choose to spend their day at East Riddlesden Hall.

In return you’ll work in beautiful surroundings, be invited to property talks and presentations and leave at the end of the day with the knowledge that you are helping to protect this important piece of local history.

This year we’ll be opening the house on Thursdays from 22 March. We’re looking for volunteers to join us on these days to help us deliver a truly outstanding experience where visitors can get hands on with history and help us take East Riddlesden Hall forward.
