Himalayan balsam bashing

Every Saturday in June, 10.30am-12.30pm. Become volunteers for the day and help us to control this non-native species. Himalayan balsam speeds up the erosion of riverbanks and prevents traditional wild flowers from growing. It’s easily pulled up by hand making this a great family activity.

Every alternate Sunday from 1 July, 2-3pm Do you know how butter was traditionally made? How long did it take? How was it stored? Uncover the history of butter making at one of these drop-in sessions. Race against your family to see who can make butter the fastest? £2 per participating person.

Gingerbread making

Every Tuesday from 31 July - 28 August, 11.30am-12noon and 1-1.30pm. Experience tastes and smells of the past at these gingerbread making sessions. Our costumed volunteer will be making gingerbread the traditional way. Smell the spices and taste the finished product - how does it compare to today's gingerbread? £1 per person.

50 Things to do before you're 11¾

Come along every Tuesday and Saturday from 24 July between 1-3pm to learn a new skill. We'll be making a home for bugs, making mini rafts and sailing them on the duck pond, and cooking on a campfire. Please see the What's On page for full details.
