Winter at Sizergh 

There’s winter wonder for the whole family at the gateway to the Lake District this year. From 20 November – 24 December 2026, make memories with loved ones at Sizergh.

Visitors, including parents with a small child who is holding his mothers hand, walking around the light trail at Sizergh. The trees are lit up in different colours and Victorian-style lampposts are hung with luminous globes.

Winter walks 

Winter has a beauty of its own, with the landscape transformed by dustings of frost, blankets of snow and the golden glow of low sunlight. Through leafless trees, you’ll see new views and distant horizons. Wildlife is easier to spot in the stillness of a winter woodland and, after a long walk on a chilly day, there’s the promise a cosy hot chocolate and treat in the café.

Avoid the hustle and bustle of the high street to find local handmade treasures and festive treats in our National Trust shops. They're a great place to start for gift inspiration.
