Walking holidays in the Lake District
With its craggy peaks, lush valleys and miles of woodland, the Lake District has a well deserved reputation as the walking capital of the UK. Every one of our holiday cottages and campsites boasts direct access to a range of walking routes to suit your preferred level of adventure.
Whether you prefer a long day out on England's highest peaks or a gentle amble along a lakeshore, you'll find something for you. Some of our places are close to the well-trodden routes around Windermere or Ambleside, whilst others give immediate access to wild and remote places where you'll barely see a soul all day.
Walk the high fells
Walk from Great Langdale Campsite
A relaxed, natural site in the Langdales, a paradise for all kinds of adventures, from meandering trails to major peaks.
Walk from Bird How
Head up England's highest summit, Scafell Pike on the less well-known trail from Bird How in the Eskdale Valley. Other adventurous routes can be tackled from this cottage too.
Explore low fells and valley floors
Walk from Rose Castle Cottage
Far from the holiday crowds, there are lots of gentle mountains to explore from this cottage, as well as the iconic Tarn Hows.
Walk from Silverthwaite
This cottage offers great walks over Loughrigg to the bustling lakeland town of Ambleside or the smaller village of Grasmere. It's also perfectly placed for circular walks to Coniston and Langdale.
Walk from Summer House
This is a fabulous location from which to walk over the gently undulating hills towards Hawkshead and Sawrey, Beatrix Potter country, or the nearby fell of Latterbarrow where you can enjoy 360 degree views.
Wander through woodlands
Walk from Holme Wood Bothy
You can enjoy lakeshore woodland walking from your door at Holme Wood and have the chance to see red squirrels and a rarely-visited waterfall of great beauty.

The Sizergh estate is an ideal base for woodland and lower level walking with the added bonus of being close to Kendal, a vibrant festival town.
