Springtime family days out at Hatchlands

Leave your big coats and woolly hats behind and visit Hatchlands Park as the winter weather gives way to the first flushes of springtime. You might still need your wellies though. We’ve got lots of excellent activities for the whole family, so brush off those winter cobwebs and enjoy an outdoor adventure alongside the green shoots of spring.

Visit our natural adventure area for children. Get to grips with hand-crafted willow tunnels, domes, balance beams, sculptures and a totem pole, we've even got wood piles for den building. With picnic benches for tired parents, find us on the map in Great Wix Wood.

In our most popular spring months our small Kitchen Café can become extremely busy. Why not pack a picnic and head out into the beautful park and garden for a spot of al fresco lunch.

50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾ at Hatchlands Park

Our list of 50 things will set you on your way to great outdoor adventures. You can complete 19 of the 50 activities here. Build a den in our adventure area, fly your kite on a windy day or find a huge hollow tree to explore in, the whole park is your playground.

Wizard Wix’s Willow Warren, our natural adventure area, has proved hugely popular with children and parents. Now you can visit and get even closer to nature with our tree house.

Picnic spots

Throw a rug down on the lawn in front of the house or head further afield to discover one of the many picnic spots in our park. Pack your own hamper full of your favourite summer food or visit our Kitchen Café and let us do the hard work for you with fresh sandwiches and takeaway drinks. Head to the top of Wix Hill for views of the surrey landscape, down to Sheepwash Pond to sit by the water or grab a seat on the circular bench in the peaceful Courtyard Garden.

Bounce around the garden

When our garden’s open, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, you’ll be able to find our collection of bright and bouncy space hoppers on the lawn. Feel free to grab one and hop to your hearts content, but do try and avoid the fountain.

You can pick up 2 age-specific children’s house trails at our house entrance | You can find baby changing facilities in the female and disabled toilets, also in the courtyard | Not all of our parkland and woodland paths are hard surfaced - for the most buggy friendly routes just ask at reception when you arrive
