Summer theatre and cinema in 2018 at Hatchlands Park

Visit Hatchlands this summer and treat yourself to an evening of theatre or cinema. Enjoy a series of outdoor, summertime plays on the lawn in front of our mansion or one of three screenings of classic ‘80s movies in our cobbled courtyard. With Shakespeare’s late gem, an evening spent in Neverland or a day off in the company of Ferris, you’ll find an event for all ages. So grab your lawn chairs and head out for some evening entertainment.

Immersion Theatre invites you to enjoy a summer evening of open-air decadence and hilarity with Oscar Wilde's wittiest comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest. Join foppish bachelors Jack and Algernon on their latest exploits replete with mistaken identities, trivial banter and of course, muffins.

The Lord Chamberlain's Men, the UK's premier all male theatre company, present Shakespeare's spellbinding masterpiece, The Tempest. His late, great gem, examines the power of true love, our capacity for vengeance and what it takes to forgive. Performed in the open air with Elizabethan costumes, music and dance.

Immersion Theatre invites you to soar away to Neverland with outdoor musical production of Peter Pan over two nights. Join Folksy Theatre for a colourful family show with music, puppetry and a cast of wonderful characters. Princess Sophie is fed up. She's exhausted because the grumpy giant can't sleep and he's keeping everyone awake. But Sophie is a resourceful girl and, as she reads her favourite book of fairy tales, she wonders if she might just have the answer.

Back to the Future

Enjoy the ultimate in '80s sci-fi adventure comedy, Back to the Future, at Hatchlands with Venture Cinema. Get your DeLorean up to 88mph and follow Marty McFly and Doc Brown back in time to 1955. Changing the course of history with the help of 1.21 gigawatts of lightning and the Under the Sea dance, Marty’s trying not to ruin his chance of ever being born.

All of our summer theatre events are open-air performances taking place on the lawns in front of our house. Our cinema events are also open-air screenings but will take place in the cobbled courtyard.

Please feel free to bring your own seating or picnic blankets plus any food, drinks or snacks you'd like. Remember to wrap up warm and dress for the weather. These are all outdoor events and are likely to go ahead in all weather conditions, including wet weather. Refreshments will be available throughout the performances.
