About 1 Morville Barn
Located on Morville Hall Estate, 1 Morville Barn is a cosy conversion in South Shropshire which is surrounded by lots of local attractions.Originally believed to be stables, this early 18th-century converted barn offers a cosy and rustic stay for family and friends who want a place to go away together. What’s more, this holiday cottage is part of a new National Trust project to carefully bring to life 16 unused barns at five National Trust estates in England. 1 Morville Barn is one of two halves of Morville Barn and both 1 and 2 Morville Barn can be booked together for two families to come together but enjoy having their own spaces at the end of the day.
1 Morville Barn is part of a former farm on the north side of Morville Hall, a picturesque Elizabethan manor house which was remodelled in the 18th century giving it the appearance of a Georgian home. Built around the time of the manor’s remodel, this holiday cottage was not a barn in the strict sense, more likely a stable which was extended twice by 1808 to create the building as it now stands.
This holiday accommodation will offer you the perfect space to relax and unwind and makes an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area. The cottage offers comfortable accommodation up to six, with two king size bedrooms, one bedroom with single bed and single sofa bed, one bathroom and one shower room. There’s a woodburning stove for you to enjoy on chillier evening or enjoy cooking your own home cooked meals in the fully equipped modern kitchen. The property is dog friendly for your to bring your four-legged family members and you can enjoy the sunshine sitting in the front shared enclosed garden, looking over the pond next door.
The nearest town is Bridgnorth, with a vibrant high street offering lots of small independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Just a five-minute drive away is the medieval town of Much Wenlock which is known to have inspired the modern Olympic Games, so follow the Olympian Trail through the town to find out more. Slightly further away, about a 15-minute drive from Morville Barn, is Ironbridge, a world heritage site and the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. For a great day out, drive 25-minutes to Shrewsbury where you can explore Shrewsbury Castle, Charles Darwin’s home and the historic town centre that hosts lots of independent and artisan businesses.
For those wanting to get out and about in nature and discover the local countryside, it’s worth packing your walking shoes as there are plenty of paths and trails that start from the village of Morville. However, if you’re looking for an adventure that’s a little further afield, Dudmaston Estate is only a 10-minute drive from the property and boasts a landscape of ancient woodlands, productive conifer plantations, brimming pools and trails that are perfect for biking and walking. For walks through the stunning Shropshire countryside head over to Wenlock Edge, or take on the challenge of walking to the top of the Long Mynd. The views from the top are well worth the effort.
