    Surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the Dinefwr Park Estate, Cariad Cottage offers a peaceful escape in Carmarthenshire. With its woodburner and rustic charm, this cottage is a perfect romantic getaway for couples.

    You'll have free entry to the 17th-century manor house and parkland at Dinefwr. The ruins of Dinefwr Castle, cared for by Cadw, tower over the landscape and the medieval Deer Park has a herd of fallow deer, while the ancient woodland is home to some of the oldest trees in Britain.

    There are pubs, cafés and delis nearby, and Llandeilo has many small independent shops, selling everything from local crafts to specialist cookware and bespoke chocolate and ice cream.

    The cottage is on the western edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). The National Botanical Garden of Wales is a 20-minute drive away and Aberglasney Gardens, Brechfa Forest, Paxton's Tower and Dolaucothi Goldmines are all close by, as are the market towns of Llandovery and Carmarthen. 

    It's a one-hour drive to the seaside at New Quay or Tenby, where you can enjoy boat trips and beaches. You could also stop off at Colby Woodland Gardens or Llanerchaeron, both cared for by the National Trust and known for walking, gardens and delicious cream teas. 

    Cariad Cottage is next to another holiday cottage, Dinefwr Home Farm (sleeps 12, dog friendly), and Dinefwr Deer Lodge (sleeps two, dog friendly) and Penparc (sleeps eight, dog friendly) are also on the estate. Multiple cottages can be booked together for a group.
