About Heron View

Heron View is a cosy, riverside cottage in Malmsmead in the heart of North Devon, surrounded by rolling hills and countryside. This is a great place for a peaceful night’s sleep after an active day of rambling, in an area popular with walkers. The Oare and Badgworthy waters meet here, with a scenic bridge and ford just a stone’s throw from the cottage, and a seasonal National Trust buttery (tea-room) close by.

On the ground floor there’s a handy boot room, and stairs leading up to the living room, kitchen, family bathroom, and one king size and two single bedrooms. A grassy outdoor area with seating adjacent to the cottage is shared with the buttery.

To holiday with family or friends, you can book neighbouring Kingfisher View which has an interlocking door.

Fans of R. D. Blackmore will be interested to know that the nearby Doone Valley inspired him for his well-known novel, Lorna Doone. Take a self-led tour of the novel and journey through places such as the medieval village at Hoccombe Combe and the water slide at Lank Combe.

The nearest shingle beach is at Lynmouth just over two miles away. A little further afield, Lynton and Porlock are seven miles away with pubs, restaurants and shops.
