About Swallow

A former farm building now converted to a characterful holiday let with exposed beams.

Swallow Cottage has been converted from an 18th-century farm building and was originally used as a cow shed to house a dairy herd. The cottage has been restored using traditional materials and retains its original character. Exposed beams, a brickwork fireplace and a wood-burner add to its charm.

Take advantage of the cottages amazing location and explore Fountains Abbey, a 12th-century Cistercian abbey and World Heritage site. As a guest, you are invited to enjoy this stunning attraction for free.

Take a trip to the Yorkshire Dales. Wander along undulating hills and valleys before stopping for lunch in one of the many traditional pubs scattered throughout the National Park. Or head 30 miles to York, with its wealth of heritage, cobbled streets and the mighty York Minster.

About the Acorn rating

We have applied a 1-5 acorn rating to each cottage to be used only as a guide that covers location, style of interior and facilities you may be looking for. The range runs from 1 Acorn at a more basic level such as Bird How which due to its stunning yet remote location doesn’t have a caretaker through to 5 Acorns at the highest level – such as Shute Barton.

Cottage pricing is not judged on the Acorn rating alone and as all our cottages are of an individual nature we recommend that all factors are considered when making your choice.
