About Whitefields Cottage

Discover the spectacular ruins of Fountains Abbey from this large farmhouse cottage.

Stay in this relaxed farmhouse cottage in the heart of Yorkshire. There’s enough room for six people, and an additional two if booked with adjoining The Boot Room, making it ideal for special get-togethers. The dining table is perfect for big celebratory meals, and afterwards you’ll love to sink into the comfy leather sofas around a roaring log burner. You’ll have an enclosed lawn garden with picnic benches and plenty of space for dogs to run around.

Guests can enjoy free access to wander across the 700 acres of Studley Royal deer park from the doorstep. You’ll also have the privilege of your own key to experience the atmospheric ruins of Fountains Abbey and the beautiful Georgian water gardens once the day visitors have left. The cottage is just 10 minutes’ drive from Ripon town centre, where you’ll find plenty of cosy restaurants and pubs to enjoy.

You’ll be 20 minutes from the dramatic moorland rock formations of Brimham Rocks and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Or if you want to go further afield, it’s about an hour’s drive into the windswept wilds of the Yorkshire Dales, where there are lots of walking routes. Other places to visit include the York Treasurer’s House, Nunnington Hall and Beningbrough Hall and Gardens.

About the Acorn rating

We have applied a 1-5 acorn rating to each cottage to be used only as a guide that covers location, style of interior and facilities you may be looking for. The range runs from 1 Acorn at a more basic level such as Bird How which due to its stunning yet remote location doesn’t have a caretaker through to 5 Acorns at the highest level – such as Shute Barton.

Cottage pricing is not judged on the Acorn rating alone and as all our cottages are of an individual nature we recommend that all factors are considered when making your choice.
