Our work for a healthy Exmoor

An Exmoor pony surveying the Holniote Estate

Our aim is to reverse the decline of nature on Exmoor and the surrounding area. We want to do this by improving the land, sustainable farming for food and nature and working with local people and partners to create more wildlife-friendly ecosystems.

Exmoor’s coastline offers a wealth of ways to connect with the romantic and rugged landscape that stretches along the Bristol Channel. It’s a landscape that we feel is as close to being natural and wild as it is possible to get in southern Britain.

The National Trust cares for 55% of the Exmoor coastline which lies within Exmoor National Park,  stretching from Watersmeet and Countisbury in west Exmoor in Devon, to Somerset's sweeping Holnicote Estate in the east of the national park.

The coast of Exmoor offers a significant natural environment for lots of plants and animals, but this home for nature is in decline.
