Half-term and Halloween at Kedleston Hall
Pull out your wellies and kick through the leaves as you look out for birds feasting on wild berries and fungi growing inside fallen tree trunks. We're very lucky to have such a variety of beautiful trees here at Kedleston and this autumn we're giving them the recognition they deserve.
It can be a challenge keeping everyone entertained through the October half-term, but not to worry we've got it covered.
We've got plenty of Tree-mendous Autumn Crafts on offer between Monday 23 October & Friday 27 October. These are all drop in sessions inspired by the wonderful trees we have at Kedleston. There's no need to book in advance so just ask at Visitor Services when you arrive to see what we have going on.
Children's wood carving workshop - Sorry now sold out!
On Tuesday 24 October we're running a wood carving workshop especially for children. They'll learn how to safely use a knife to carve green wood and make something to take home. The workshop is suitable for children aged from 10-16 years old and children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the session. This workshop is very popular and books up fast! Make sure you check availability and book before you visit.
Volunteering as a family
If you fancy trying something a little different this autumn why not get all the family involved in a spot of volunteering? On Wednesday 25 October you can drop in and give our Rangers a hand with their work in the woodland. Be prepared to get your hands dirty and help us keep Kedleston’s woodlands looking their beautiful best. These sessions are recommended for over 5s as we’ll be using tools and be walking over a mile. There's no need to book just as at visitor reception when you arrive for more details.
Make the most of getting outdoors before the colder months kick in and get adventurous with 50 things to do before you’re 11 and ¾.
Explore the grounds to discover the horse chestnut trees and hunt for their fallen conkers. Catch a fallen leaf and you could even take it home to create some wild art. Ask for the 50 things booklet at reception for more information.
Halloween family fun
Join us for a spooktacular evening on 29 October. In the spooky surrounding of Kedleston's saloon enjoy comedy and chills in this original adaptation of the charming Oscar Wilde tale.
Written especially for children and young families. This one-man show, featuring much audience participation, is guaranteed to raise more than just a ghost of a smile.
