Get the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about visiting Mount Stewart.

Visitor Notice:

  • Our Tea-Room is open table service only, the kiosk will be open for takeaway snacks and drinks (normal admission applies/National Trust Members free). Please see opening times for details.
  • Please note the Green Trail is closed over the winter period. 
  • From Monday 14th March 2022, we’ll be closing the whole property at 4.30pm every day and the property gates will be locked at this time. To help support our teams closing down the estate safely and in a timely manner we ask you to leave promptly.

The House is open 7 days a week from Mon 14th March:

  • Mon to Wed: Guided tours all day - 11am to 3.30pm (every 30 minutes)
  • Thurs & Fri: Guided Tours 11,11.30 & 12 noon & then free flow 12.30 until last entry 3.45pm.
  • Weekends & Bank Holidays Freeflow all day.
  • The Shop, Tea Room, Gardens and Trails are open 7 days a week.
  • Tea Room closes 30 minutes before property closure time.
  • Whole property closed 25 & 26 December.


Parking and when you arrive

  • Please have your essential companion or carers card with you if applicable.

  • Our gates will close and be locked for the day at 4.30pm from Monday 14th March. To help support our teams closing down the estate safely and in a timely manner we ask you to leave promptly.

  • Accessible parking is available in Car Park 1 and there will be staff on site to help with any queries.

  • If you wish to visit the trails on the south of the estate, please check in at the Shepherding Hut and park in Car Park 2.

  • If you are visiting the lake walk, gardens, tea room, shop and demesne walks, please park in Car Park 1 and check in via reception.

  • Wearing a face covering is recommended in crowded and enclosed places.

Staying Safe

  • Check in will be at the Visitor Reception for our House, Lake Walk, Gardens and Demesne Walks and via the Shepherd's Hut for the trails and Dog Exercise area on the south of the estate.

Facilities

  • Please note, access to our shop and tea room is reserved for National Trust members and paying visitors.

  • Visitor Reception, shop and second hand book shop are open (see opening times for details). 

  • From Monday 7th February 2022 the Tea-Room will reopen for table service only, the kiosk will be open for takeaway snacks and drinks. Please see opening times for details.

  • The Natural Play area is open. 

  • The dog exercise area is open but can only be used by visitors who have checked in as members or payed in. 

  • Visitor Reception and Shepherd's Hut entry points close at 4.30pm.

  • The toilets in our Visitor Reception, Courtyard, Car Park 1 and Temple of the Winds are open.

Accessibility

  • The accessible toilets in the Courtyard, Car Park 1, Temple or the Winds and Visitor Reception are open.

General Guidance

  • Please keep all dogs on leads, in all areas apart from the dog exercise area.

  • Please take all rubbish home with you.

  • No BBQs, campfires or outdoor cooking equipment permitted.

  • No cycling or electric scooters. Balance bikes and bicycles with stablisers are permitted.
