Why not pick up a new book?

A stack of old books

From crime, to romance, from fiction to non-fiction we have been overwhelmed by the donations of second-hand books coming into Mr Straw's House this year. Whether you like gardening, relaxation, autobiographies or crime we could find a book for you.

William Straw Jnr collected a great number of books, magazines and pamphlets, many directly relating to the local area or the family interests, as well as many works of fiction. To follow in his footsteps why not explore our second hand bookshop.

Filled with kind donations the bookshop is raising money to help with our essential conservation work. This year the money raised from our bookshop will go back into helping to conserve the historic lino in the kitchen. As it has become fragile over time, we can no longer enter the kitchen. We are hoping to raise the £10,000 it will cost to protect the floor and re-enter this space.

So if you fancy something new to read why not pick up a book after your tour of Mr Straw's House (booking essential for all house tours) or even try a blind date with one of our books... you never know what may be found wrapped in brown paper at Mr Straw's House! Then sit back and relax in the garden, with a cuppa and your new book and get lost in another world.
