Picnics at Petworth

A family enjoying a picnic in Petworth Park

There's nothing like a picnic to enjoy the summer weather. With plenty of room out in the Orangery and also out into the deer park, you'll be spoiled for choice.

You're welcome to bring your own food to enjoy as a picnic in the Capability Brown landscaped deer park. If you fancy something extra then why not pick up snacks, cakes and ice cream to go from the Audit Room Café or Coffee Shop and take it out into the Pleasure Ground to enjoy? We thoroughly recommend the Orangery, the grassy area as you enter the Pleasure Grounds from the house, as a shady place to enjoy a picnic. In the past this used to be an area where the family grew oranges, though there aren't any oranges anymore, there is still plenty of shade to enjoy a picnic.

With a tempting selection of cakes and bakes, sandwiches and drinks in disposable cups, these are perfect to pick up and enjoy on the go or for a picnic with friends and family.

There are also some delightful treats in the Servants' Quarters shop and if you've not got a rug to relax then you can always purchase your own from the shop in the Servants' Quarters.

Please do remember to pick up any litter once you've finished, you'll find bins in the courtyard beside the Servants' Quarters but also at the car park for the park and mansion.
