Plas yn Rhiw Christmas weekend
Join us at Plas yn Rhiw with family and friends as the house is reawakened with Christmas spirit, a special visit and a host of activities, 2 - 3 December, 11am - 3pm.
The 17th-century manor on the Llŷn peninsula is opening for an old style family Christmas celebration in December. The charming old house, set in restored ornamental gardens overlooking the sea, is the perfect place to come and escape the high-street crowds.
At midday families gather at the bottom of the woodland and break out into a traditional Welsh song, calling out for Siôn Corn (Father Christmas) to come down the hillside.
Sion Corn has traditionally travelled down on his noble steed, Dylan. This year, since Dylan has hung up his horeshoes and retired Sion Corn will be on foot.
He'll be making a special delivery and calling on his 'little helpers' to decorate the Plas yn Rhiw Christmas wish tree.
There will be an opportunity to meet Sion Corn and his elves in the traditionally decorated kitchen; where well behaved children will recieve a small gift to take home with them.
Throughout the day we’ll have a host of activities for the family to get involved in. There will be craft making, face painting, festive games and a discovery trail around the garden.
The property opens especially for this event on 2 and 3 December, from 11am to 3pm.
See the house as it comes back to life for a special Christmas weekend. The ground floor will be decorated from top to bottom with beautiful traditional Christmas decorations.
Keeping you warm throughout the day will be our cosy tea-room, where we’ll be serving hot and cold drinks, a choice of soup and sandwiches and mince pies.
The shop will also be opening with a range of beautiful gifts from the National Trust collection.
