Victorian Christmas at Quarry Bank

Victorian characters outside Quarry Bank

The Quarry Bank workers and apprentices have to finish their jobs before the festivities can begin. Can you help them get to the Christmas party?

The Mill

In the Mill all talk of Christmas had been banned until work is done.  It's difficult to keep the festive spirit out though and there are rumours of a party.  Can you follow the trail to discover Christmas traditions and help the workers with their jobs?

Apprentice House

Head over to the Apprentice House to find out what Christmas was like at home for the apprentice children. Here you can find out about the annual school prize giving and try a slice of the currant loaf given to apprentices as a treat on Christmas Day?

Caught a winter sniffle? Then pop into the Apprentice House kitchen where the doctor is in and ready to tell you all about the Victorian remedies used throughout the festive season.

Christmas traditions

The Mill Yard presents a festive scene with decorations including wreaths, lights and of course the Christmas tree. Outside, local choirs or brass bands perform your favourite carols, all whilst enjoying a warm mince pie and delicious hot drink.
