The KinoVan mobile cinema comes to Rainham

The exterior of Rainham Hall

On Sunday 2 April 2017, 11am-4pm, the travelling KinoVan will be at Rainham Hall showing archive footage of the local area from 1931. It's free for all to enjoy at Rainham for one day only!

London's Screen Archives are working with Havering Local Studies and Family History Centre and other archives to deliver a Heritage Lottery Funded Project called 'London: A Bigger Picture'. The aim of the project is to collect, preserve and show film material of 15 of the outer boroughs of London.

The KinoVan is a mobile cinema showing films from across London, inspired by travelling cinema vans of the 1920s. Each screening gives a unique insight a different borough's past, with a mix of old home movies and other gems from the archive. The team also reveal hidden stories behind the films, including memories from the original filmmakers or their families.

Visit the KinoVan to see archive footage of local landmarks such as Rainham creek and the nearby church of St. Helen and St. Giles.
