We’ve all been there – start 2026 with all good intentions of getting fitter, enjoying some fresh air and getting outdoors more. Well, what if this year, there was a way for you to combine all of that with the first Trust10 Trail Run? The first will take place on 25 January 2026 at Aberdaron, with monthly events running throughout the year—except in May, July, and August. There’s no need to register in advance – and it’s free!

Starting at National Trust Cymru’s car park at Porth y Swnt at 9am, the route takes you along the Wales Coast Path to the secluded cove of Porth Meudwy, taking in the spectacular views of Cardigan Bay before returning along the road to Aberdaron.

The small cove of Porth Meudwy at the tip of the Llŷn Peninsula was once the embarkation point for pilgrims making the journey to Ynys Enlli (Bardsey). Today it still serves as the departure point for Ynys Enlli and as a small port for the handful of fishermen who make their living catching crab and lobster in the waters around Aberdaron.

The route itself is graded blue on the trail running guide due to uneven terrain and its distance from the starting line. Anyone who does fancy giving the challenge a go can expect some narrow coastal footpaths with the occasional steep steps along the way, so good footwear and plenty of care are both essential before undertaking the run.

Mali Jones, Visitor Experience Officer for National Trust Cymru is also aware that people may feel daunted at first with a full 10K, but there’s no need to do the whole route. Mali said ‘You can choose how far you go, it’s not compulsory to finish the full 10K at all. Complete the loop twice for the full 10K challenge or take on the first 5K and call it a day – it's totally up to you.’

‘There really is no pressure to finish the full route so why not come along and do what you can, just breathe in all that fresh sea air and enjoy the scenery as you run. The main thing is just making a start, and of course the scenery along the Llŷn Peninsula is a great reward in itself!’

Are you up to the challenge? Why not set yourself a new goal and enjoy some spectacular views along the way.

The event takes place on the fourth Sunday of every month, apart from May, July, and August. Discover full details, a map of the route and a full list of dates here.
