World Book Day fun at Sheffield Park and Garden
We're joining in the fun of World Book Day 2019 here at Sheffield Park and Garden. Come along to see what we're up to and exchange your token for your free book from a great selection of titles.
We're celebrating World Book Day this March with a weekend of fun to be had for all. Come along over the weekend of the 9-10 March where you can exchange your token in our shop for one of the World Book Day titles, or put your £1 token towards any book from our shop.
We'd love you to dress up as your favourite book character too. Some of our staff and volunteers will be coming dressed as theirs as well. Who will you come as?
Take part in the 10 Little Bookworms trail
We're running a small trail around the shop at visitor reception where you need to spot the 10 bookworms hidden around the shop. Ask for a spotter sheet when you enter the shop then see if you can find them all so you can discover what sort of a bookworm you are. No doubt there'll be one peeking out of a book but where else will they be?
Join us for a story and meet a local author
If you'd like to listen to a story, we'll be holding two storytelling sessions in the garden. Come along to our gazebo at 11.30-12pm and 2.30-3pm to listen to a story and join in the fun. Space will be limited so do come along early to avoid disappointment.
We're pleased to welcome local author, Iona Tulloch, to Sheffield Park who will be reading her new book, Lonesome Bog and Little Dog, with illustrations by Harry Woodgate, during our storytelling sessions on Sunday 10 March. You can even meet her afterwards in the shop at visitor reception where you can buy a copy of her book for her to sign.
Browse our secondhand book shop
Have you visited our secondhand book shop yet? We've a selection of children and adult titles for you to take home with you in exchange for a donation of your choice. If you have any books you no longer need, we are always grateful for donations too. Just drop them off in the bookshop or at reception when you're visiting.
Stop by the tearoom for refreshments
If all those activities have left you in need of refreshments, then our welcoming tearoom, just next door to the secondhand book shop is well worth a visit. There are children's lunchboxes to choose from, sandwiches, soups, stews, jacket potatoes and main meals to choose from, as well as a wide selection of cakes and biscuits plus freshly-baked scones.
So come along and join in the World Book Day fun over the weekend of the 9-10 March. You can also enjoy a walk around the garden, spotting the first few signs of spring as we move between the seasons.
