Spring at Sissinghurst Castle Garden

Daffodils out in the orchard during spring

Spring sees lots of changes here at Sissinghurst, with the garden being fully open to enjoy the clusters of daffodils in the orchard as well as an array of colour around the estate

In the garden

Spring sees the start of the early season bloom, and we're lucky enough here at Sissinghurst to have a few gardens that look at their best during the start of the season. Delos and the limewalk are amongst the highlights at this time of year, Delos which was an inspiration from Vita's travels to Greece is a sight of low shrubbery and exotic planting.

The lime walk is lined by a gallery of lime trees and is always looking at it's finest during this time of the year, and with some colourful low level planting in the borders it makes for a great sight during the spring months.

Another sight not to miss during spring is our orchard which will be brimming with daffodils and crocuses. The orchard sits within the garden and is framed by the moat, a great spot to sit back, relax and enjoy the view.

Around the estate

It's not just the garden that gets a coating of spring colour at Sissinghurst, there's also our 450 acre estate which comes to life during this time of year. Crocuses and daffodils start the season off in a flurry, dotted around the vast woodland and in the surronding fields.

April sees the bluebells come into their own, with  splatters of colour on the ground creating a carpet of purple amongst the trees.

We have plenty going on this Easter for families and adults alike. For those looking to stretch their legs our estate walks are always open and give a great opportunity to take in the spring colour around the site. There'll be plenty of family fun to be had with our annual Cadbury themed Easter egg hunts, taking place between 14 - 17 April. There'll also be our big garden games for you to enjoy and a dedicated 50 things area on the estate for you to hone those den building skills.
