Enchanted Speke: Sleeping Beauty
Winter has cast a spell over Speke Hall and everywhere is under a slumbering enchantment. Join us for some magical family fun from 18 to 26 February.
Enjoy spellbinding adventures through the sleeping corridors and woodland pathways of Speke Hall and estate. Throughout our Sleeping Beauty event you can explore the enchanted sleeping house and forest, discover more about hibernation and what happens to nature during winter’s spell and take part in tranquil activities. Download our event programme here to discover what's on when.
On selected days (not Monday and Tuesday) step inside the enchanted Hall and see how Sleeping Beauty’s fate has swept throughout the manor and entranced everything within. Collect your Briar Rose trail when you enter the hall and experience her sleeping court and beautiful paper displays. The house is gradually waking up from its winter slumber so please be aware that a couple of rooms may be closed, or in the process of being cleaned and woken back up for spring.
You and your family can explore the outdoors every day during this period with our fantastic Sleeping Speke outdoor discovery map. This free activity will be available from Reception and is a self-guided chance to experience some of the sleepier corners of the estate. Our usual outdoor activity areas (maze, play area, woodland & Childe of Hale play trails) will be open every day as well.
Share the peaceful spirit of the Sleeping Beauty event with relaxing family yoga sessions in the Education Room on 13, 18, 19, 20 & 21 February. Sessions will run 10.30-11am, 11-11.30am and 12-12.30pm and it's just £1 per person. Please arrive a few minutes early to get set up.
We've also got free guided walks around the gardens, estate and coastal reserve from 1.30-2.30pm on 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 & 28 February. Spring is in the air and nature is awaking from its hibernation - what will you discover on your travels? Please meet at the Stable Tea Room for these walks.
This event is part of our Enchanted Speke series of fairytale family fun over the school holidays. Join us at Easter for Robin Hood and then again in May half term for A Giant Adventure.
