Get hands on

Our volunteers don't just help when we're open, but play an invaluable role behind the scenes too. From caring for our collection to repairing dry stone walls, there's lots to get involved with.

Our volunteers bring a huge variety of skills that are so important in helping us. You can join in by downloading an application form today.

Conservation volunteers

Volunteering as a conservation assistant is a great way to learn new skills, as you help us to care for our collections and keep up the high presentation standards we're known for.

Working with conservation staff, you will learn how to protect historic items so that our visitors can enjoy them for as long as possible.

Tea-room assistants

Volunteers in the tea-room provide a warm and inviting experience, from welcoming visitors to assisting with food preparation and serving food and drink in a prompt, efficient and pleasant manner.

Situated in the original laundry room of the stables, the tea-room serves home-made, light refreshments in a place like no other.
