Winter Holiday Trail at Stoneywell

The cottage at Stoneywell in snow

Winter holidays are for a different kind of adventure, a little less about pirates and finding buried treasure and more about expeditions to the 'North Pole'. Taking inspiration from Winter Holiday, in the Swallows and Amazons series of books, this February half-term it is your turn for a winter voyage around Stoneywell.

We have a brand new trail for this February half-term, inspired by Arthur Ransome's Winter Holiday. In the book, the Swallows and Amazons decide ice and snow is not really the type of weather for their normal pirate and sailing adventures. Instead, it is the ideal environment for an expedition north. Following suit, we have created our own winter adventure around Stoneywell for you to join in with.

Running from the 10th to 25th February 2018, the trail involves you helping us to identify some unexpected visitors who have been to Stoneywell over the winter and left behind some intriguing evidence. Your first port of call is the stables, to make a tacking guide, before heading off around the grounds to find some clues. If you follow them correctly, you will discover who has been at Stoneywell (and of course, claim your prize too!).

As it is still quite wintery out there, when a lot of little creatures are still finding cosy spots to shelter in, you can also make your very own mini-bug hotel to take home with you.
