There's a whole weekend of sporting events taking place at Stourhead this May, will you be brave enough to challenge yourself to become an immortal athlete?
The Immortal weekend is the only opportunity for athletes to swim the iconic lake; it will be truly memorable and makes spectacular viewing.
Over the weekend there are several events taking place.
Saturday 16 May:
10am - The Immortal 10k
Described as 10k of trails, tracks and pain, the route takes in many of the stunning sights and views around Stourhead estate and neighbouring woodland. We don't pretend this is an easy route, but to earn the right to become Immortal, it has to be tough. Around 50% of the route is on really quiet closed country lanes, with the remainder on forest tracks and trails.
12 noon - Immortal Juniors
Children will love the multi terrain run, with the fantastic finish at Stourhead House, experiencing the same finish line buzz as the Immortal Triathletes. As with all Immortal events, this is no walk in the park, but we are confident that children from any age will take the course in their stride. Children under 11 must be within arm’s reach of a parent or guardian.
5pm - Immortal Mega Sprint
Don’t be fooled, this is a tough and challenging event that will surely test even the fittest and fastest triathletes. Immortal Sport have secured exclusive use of this iconic venue. This tough and challenging race will start off with a 900m swim in the large lake, followed a by a beautiful 18 mile ride through the Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset, before finishing in a 4.5 mile run.
Sunday 17 May
7am - Immortal Half Triathlon
This race will start off with a 1900m, two lap swim in the beautiful and scenic lake, followed by a 56 mile ride, which is stunning, yet fast and tough in equal measures. The route unusually visits the three counties of Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset. The run route is three laps through a meadow, through woods to the west of Stourhead, and past Stourhead House. There are some lively descents, which mean you need to climb back up but at the end you get the accolade of becoming an Immortal Triathlete.
7am - Immortal Aquabike
By popular demand, a middle distance Aquabike event has been added to the line up this year. Following the route of the Immortal Half, you simply finish and claim your prize without having to do the three lap run route.
For those feeling very energetic, why not enter the triple crown and complete the 10k, mega sprint and Immortal half over the course of the weekend. There is also the opportunity to camp overnight at Stourhead for those taking part.
