A selection of cakes available at Stourhead

The restaurant is the perfect place to re-fuel during your visit or even as a stop-off point if you’re journeying along the A303.

Catering manager Chris and his team open the restaurant at 9am everyday (except Christmas Day).

Offering delicious hot bacon sandwiches until 11am as well as tea and coffee. Sandwiches and a selection of freshly baked cakes are also available as well as the traditional cream tea throughout the day.

A range of hot food is available from 12noon with pasties, sausage rolls, and soup as well as our hot main meals served until 3pm. These include filled jacket potatoes, chicken and bacon pot pie and a cheese and pepper flan. Salads are also available. 

We love working with our gardeners to ensure that whenever possible we are using our own, home grown, vegetables from the walled garden, and one of our tenant farmers supplies all of our eggs.

Food miles really matter to us, and we try to source locally wherever possible, and some of our suppliers include:

  • Jon Thorner Butchers 

  • Purbeck Ice Cream

Free from:

Every day our soup is vegetarian and made with no gluten or dairy containing ingredients and we offer gluten free rolls with this also. We are more than happy to make gluten free sandwich rolls to order and our honeyed pork one pot is also made with no gluten containing ingredients. 

A range of gluten free cakes are available every day and if you want any help or have a question about your dietary requirements, please do ask one of our team. 

For families:

We know that with little ones, feeding time can be tricky, so we try to help out wherever we can. 

We have a great selection of food for children including: 

  • Children’s lunchboxes, 

  • Children’s portions of our hot food 

  • Bensons ‘Joosed’ Junior’s 

  • Plates and cutlery perfect for small hands, 

but we also have a small play area with soft matting, colouring sheets and books, all to help you keep the little ones happy and occupied whilst you enjoy your own lunch or cup of tea.

Last orders in the restaurant is at 5.30pm and it closes at 6pm.
