Saturday 5 March 2022, 10am-12pm and 2-4pm. Are you interested in becoming part of a supportive and enjoyable team at Stourhead? Come along to our recruitment day and find out how you can be involved in a huge variety of roles. You could bring the rich history of the Hoare family house to life, inspire our visitors as you welcome them through our doors or tend to the world-renowned landscape garden.

There are great benefits to volunteering with us at Stourhead. You will gain unique and remarkable skills to build your skillset and CV. You will meet amazing people, make friends and become part of a supportive team. You will inspire people, share your passion and be giving something back. 

Volunteering is open to everyone. Whether you have just a few hours or a few days, we would love to hear from you.

Inside the house

There are many exciting opportunities inside the house. Hannah and the team will be in the house during the morning to chat to you about our volunteer roles. These range from room guiding and conservation work to our craft group who help make seasonal decorations for the property.

The events team

Join Anna and her events team in the basement of the house to chat about exciting opportunities to volunteer in a variety of events across Stourhead. You may be stewarding events including, a triathlon, Christmas at Stourhead and outdoor theatre or even making someone's wedding or special function the best it can be.

Help grow support

Do you enjoy chatting to people and inspiring them? Head over to visitor reception where the team will talk to you about welcoming our visitors and becoming part of the welcome team. Opportunities include welcoming visitors, buggy & shuttle driving, fundraising and bookshop volunteers and joining our 'walks and talks' team.

Seasonal activities team

The Visitor Experience team provide many exciting opportunities across the Stourhead Estate. From family trails to seasonal events. Join Betsy in the house basement to find out more about the role, from crafting and installing seasonal displays, to engaging with families, giving out prizes, or even face painting at family trails and activities.

Keen gardener?

Have you got green fingers or love being out in nature? If you have a good level of fitness, don’t mind working in all weather and love to work with plants and like-minded people then this could be the role for you. Our volunteers are given training, provided with tools and PPE and in return we ask for a weekly commitment. Head to the walled garden to chat to Senior Gardener Sarah to find out what opportunities we have available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays.

Become a garden guide

Do you enjoy talking to people about the landscape and nature? Being part of the garden guide team provides a unique opportunity to inspire our visitors and be amongst the landscape. Chat to Keith at the Temple of Flora and take a stroll with the team to learn more about this role and how you can impact and inspire people as a garden guide.

Interested in our restaurant?

This is a great opportunity to be involved with a great team and engage with our visitors. Head up to the restaurant, grab a drink and chat to the team about the role we have on offer. The role involves interacting with visitors as well as clearing and cleaning tables both inside and outside the restaurant.

Enjoy our shop?

Working in retail provides a great opportunity to engage with or visitors and a part of a fantastic, hardworking team. A member of the team will be based over in the shop to chat to you. The role involves, aiding with displays, interacting with visitors, and understanding how the retail shop operates.
