Masterpiece tours

Following months of research and careful curation by an amazing team of volunteers, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of a brand new programme of specialist guided tours at Stourhead.

Masterpiece Tours offer the opportunity to understand Stourhead in a new light. These extended guided tours will showcase the highlights of this magnificent place and delve deeper than ever before into the connections between the collection and the landscape garden.

Beginning with an exclusive private view of selected rooms in the house, including usually unseen items from the Hoare family collection, your expert guides will uncover the connections between the masterpieces in the house and the inspiration behind the creation of the landscape garden.

Your morning of immersion in the stories of Stourhead will conclude with an enlightening exploration of arguably the greatest masterpiece of them all – the landscape garden - with its artfully engineered lake and perfectly placed temples.

There’s lots of walking involved during this guided tour of the house and garden (and we advise sensible footwear and warm clothing) but you’ll be rewarded for your efforts with delicious elevenses, served in our restaurant before you embark on your garden tour, and a copy of the guidebook to take away and read at home.

Tickets cost £15 per person, including refreshments and a copy of the guidebook. Normal admission fees also apply.

Tours begin at 10am and are available on selected dates between April and October. You can book your place online
