Dogs policy at Upton House

Group of visitors walking in the gardens

We don’t allow dogs at Upton House – although assistance dogs which are working or in training are welcome in the garden, house and restaurant.

Our gardens here are formal and are not a suitable environment for dogs and visitors to mix. Many of our pathways are narrow as they take you out and back again along the terraces. It is a steep garden with lots of stone steps and slopes.

Other options for you...

There are several other National Trust places nearby that are more suitable for dogs to enjoy. Closest to us are Charlecote Park and Cannons Ashby. See the links below to read the about visiting these places with your dog. Before you visit, please do check for details so you know what to expect. Some access is full, some is limited and some requires dogs to be on leads.

There are walks from our car park along public footpaths which you and your dog can enjoy whilst family and friends visit Upton House, but please be aware there are often cattle and sheep in these fields so you should always keep your dog on a lead.

Our car park is open and offers no shade, so dogs cannot be left whilst you visit the house.

The walks can be downloaded here.
