Group visits to the made to measure home
Enjoy our exciting new opportunities for groups to enjoy a visit to Upton and see our wonderful art collection and here the stories of Upton's history as a home 'made to measure' in the 1920s. We’ll host your group’s visit while you are here, so there is always someone around to answer questions and all the admin is taken care of before the day so you can come and simply enjoy the day.
An introduction to Made to Measure Home
This year group visitors are invited to a very special house viewing. Purchased in 1927 by the 2nd Viscount Bearsted, Upton had great potential but was in need of modernisation.
We invite your group to follow the renovations and witness the before and after as the Bearsteds create a made to measure family home, fit to showcase a world class art collection, including works by Bosch, Stubbs, El Greco; as well as fine porcelain.
Every ideal home needs a spectacular feature garden. Lady Bearsted’s passion for plants bloomed, with early spring bulbs, lavish herbaceous planting and thriving kitchen garden, all reflecting in the Mirror Pool.
You can expect…
The personal approach
Every group will be warmly welcomed to Upton, we will provide a talk to the whole group about your visit and be on hand throughout the day to answer any questions and to help you find your way round the site.
A well organised day
As entry to the house is by timed ticket, we will use our experience to ensure your group have time for a relaxed lunch and time to fully enjoy the house and gardens.
Hassle free and high priority
We want your group to have the best day possible at Upton, so we can arrange all payments and ordering in advance of the visit. For Bearstead's Best Package all refreshments will be served at your tables in the original 1930s kitchen of the house, now an exclusive tea-room for groups. For the Made to Measure Package, the restaurant will warmly welcome you for free flow throughout the day.
