October Half Term – Stranger Folk at Cliveden
From Saturday 3 October to Sunday 8 November 2026, head to Cliveden and download the Stranger Folk app and begin an immersive adventure inspired by British folklore. The interactive game features goblins and other creatures.

The app is aimed towards 7 – 11 year olds and can be downloaded for free from Apple and Google app stores. We'd encourage you to download the app ahead of your visit, although it can also be downloaded on arrival. Free WiFi is available on-site with the best signal at the Information Centre.
Families only need one mobile phone to play the game and can work together to heal a rift between the human and spirit worlds. Volume 1, ‘Crone Calling’, starts with a message from a mysterious Old Crone. As the story develops, you can meet sneaky goblins and cunning boggarts, while learning of strange goings-on.
The game can be played at a fast pace for around 20 minutes or you can take the whole day to complete the adventure, pausing for lunch at the Conservatory café then picking up where you left off.
Crafting drop-in sessions will be running in the Doll’s House from 10:00am – 12:00pm on Wednesday 7, Wednesday 14, Wednesday 21, Friday 23, Wednesday 28 and Friday 30 October. The crafting activities will be suitable for children aged 3 years – 12 years. All sessions are subject to volunteer availability.
Spook storytelling sessions will be running in the Doll’s House from 10:30am – 12:00pm on Tuesday 20, Thursday 22, Tuesday 27 and Thursday 29 October. The stories will be age appropriate and suitable for children from ages 3 years and up.

- Accessibility
This event is free and booking is not required. Hearing loops are installed at every fixed till point. Dogs are welcome in many areas of the Cliveden Estate. There is a dog map available to pick up on arrival, which will show you the on-lead and off-lead areas.
- Meeting point
Meet at the Information Centre to download the app and collect or take a photo of the Estate map.

- What to bring and wear
Cliveden is an outdoor property so please dress appropriately for the weather.

Gardens have hard gravel paths, some steep slopes, undulating terrain and steps. Map of suggested level access routes around the gardens is available from the Information Centre.
