Summer of Play: Pop-up poetry
Give one of our resident poets a theme or a topic and they’ll write you their very own poem to take away!

Pick a topic, family, nature, or even ice-cream and watch a Poet extraordinaire turn your chosen theme into a short poem which you can take home from their typewriter.
Watching these creatives at work is a great way to get your kids interested in writing, and they have a sentimental keepsake to take home at the end of the day.
This is a free activity but admission applies, for non-members of the National Trust, or visitors without a general admission ticket to the House and Gardens, the Wider Estate admission fees apply:

The pop-up poetry event take place in the Summer of Play Zone on flat grass, please note there may be obstacles on the ground due to Children playing throughout the day.
- Meeting point
These craft activities take place in the Summer of Play zone in the North orchard. Follow the signs or ask one of our team on arrival where to go.
- What to bring and wear
Please dress for the Great British weather. Refreshments can be purchased in the Summer of Play zone, or picnics are also welcome.
