Cadw Open Doors 2026 at Powis Castle and Garden

This September, we're joining more than 200 of Wales’ historic sites, landmarks and hidden gems to offer visitors free entry.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, enjoy free entry to the world-famous Garden and Clive Museum as part of Cadw Open Doors.

Please note that the Castle Rooms remain closed while essential conservation and maintenance work takes place. No booking is required to visit the Garden or Clive Museum.

Open Doors is Wales' annual contribution to the European Heritage Days initiative, organised and funded by Cadw. The event invites people to discover historic places across Wales through free access, events and activities.

As part of the weekend, Visit Welshpool and partner attractions across the town will be hosting a range of special events and offers, making it a great opportunity to discover more of Welshpool's unique heritage and history. Activities include discounted tickets, talks and guided tours at attractions including Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, Y Lanfa (Museum & Library), Welshpool Town Hall and more.
