Outdoor theatre: As You Like It by The HandleBards
Pedalling from venue to venue with their set, props and costumes on the back of their bikes, the HandleBards are a four-strong troupe of actors who are spending the summer bringing environmentally sustainable Shakespeare to venues across the UK.
- Booking essential
Join the HandleBards at Wentworth Castle Gardens for a fantastically funny bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’.
In usual HandleBards style, expect riotous amounts of energy, a fair old whack of chaos and a great deal of laughter.
What’s the play about? Well - Rosalind and her cousin Celia flee to the Forest of Arden, where they bump into Rosalind’s love interest Orlando. However, Rosalind is disguised as a young man. Cue some local Shepherds getting involved and the stage is set for a wild ride of wooing, hilarious mistaken identity and the odd wrestling match.
'As You Like It' will be performed in the beautiful grounds of Stainborough Castle. This is an outdoor production, so please bring a blanket or chair to sit on, a picnic to dig into, and dress for the weather!
The performance will run from 6.30pm - 8.30pm with a 20 minute interval. Ticket holder gardens entry from 5pm, allowing you extra time to explore out of usual open hours.
The distance from the Visitor car park to the Castle is around 1km, up a hill. Please take this into account when planning your evening.
