Go with the flow - watery fun at Wallington this May half term

Family on the riverside

It’s all about water this May half term at Wallington as we enjoy the river Wansbeck and the beautiful river walk.

Build your own mini-raft, take part in a duck race and meet the Environment Agency as well as have a go at different craft activities too; there are plenty of things going on this May half term to guarantee fun with your family and friends. We’ll keep you busy all week long.

Tuesday 28 May - 12.30-3.30pm

Mini-raft building - join the rangers team and make your own mini-raft to set sail on the river. You'll be given a base and mast and you can then decorate with natural materials and add a sail. Weather permitting, visitors can launch and race their rafts in small groups. £2 per raft.

Thursday 30 May - 11am-3pm

Meet the Environment Agency down by the river where you can find out all about the watery residents of the Wansbeck and ask questions about what we can do to help keep the river healthy.

Thursday 30 May - 12.30 and 2pm

The Wallington Duck Race - head to the river, pick your duck and keep your fingers crossed that it's the first to cross the line! 50 ducks per race, available to choose from for an hour before each race. £1 per duck. Top 3 prizes win a prize from the cafe.

Every day throughout half term

Take part in a water-themed trail along the River walk, an animal families trail in the West wood and a bee trail in the East wood. Water-themed crafts and fun in Toobelz indoor playspace are available all week long.
