The second-hand bookshop at Wentworth Castle Gardens
Share in our passion for second-hand books and support the nature and landscapes you love by donating your books and picking up a great read at Wentworth Castle Gardens.
From classic volumes and colourful children’s tales to modern fiction and vintage treasures, discover something new (to you) to keep or share.
Books are priced at £2 for paperbacks and £4 for hardbacks and can be paid for at the shop till. Every penny spent in the bookshop contributes to our conservation projects, helping us to look after this special place for everyone.
All the books found in our second-hand bookshop are kindly donated by our visitors and volunteers. If you have books to donate, please hand them in at Visitor Reception or at the bookshop itself. In particular, we're always looking for more pre-loved children's books.
You can find our second-hand bookshop tucked away in the Long Barn next to the cafe area.
Taking Root exhibition
From 25 March, you will be able to see the Taking Root exhibition in the second-hand bookshop and Long Barn cafe.
Members of our Community Partner group 'Feels Like Home' come from all over the world. In the Taking Root project they have worked with artists and poets at Wentworth Castle Gardens to explore their personal journeys through the national flowers of their countries of origin, flowers that have made the journey here too. Louise Lane, award winning botanical artist, created the beautiful flower illustrations whilst award winning poet, Andrew McMillan, shared writing skills with the group.
Wentworth Castle Gardens contains plants from around the world, collected over centuries and now enjoyed by everyone who visits the formal gardens.
