Follow us behind the scenes

People use torches to look around corridors of Wray Castle, Cumbria

Wray Castle is a warren of stairs, corridors and rooms, not all of which are open to our visitors. This winter you’ve got the chance to take a sneak peek behind the scenes - join one of our ‘Hard Hat’ tours and discover hidden places.

Follow us as we go behind closed doors at the castle

Throughout the winter we’ll be running our special, behind the scenes tours of the castle. It’s your chance to visit parts of the castle that are usually off limits to visitors. Our experienced guides will share stories about the work carried out to repair the complex roof and some of the things we found out along the way.

Mind your head!

We’ll take you through some tight spaces, corridors and low ceilings so that’s why we provide you with a hard hat and a torch! The tour may not be suitable for everyone as we take on steps, stairs and dark corners of the castle. Just give us a call if you'd like to ask any questions
