Grasmere Gallop 2018
Grasmere Gallop was first organised in 1985 by local hotelier Robin Lees. Since the National Trust took it over in 2011, the event has more than doubled in size – this is in part thanks to the addition of the 17km trail run and the 10km Nordic Walk over the last five years.
In partnership with Cotswold Outdoor.
Run for the Reds - you would be nuts not to!
Now in its 34th year, Grasmere Gallop has become one of the friendliest fell races in the Lakes, attracting first-time runners, Nordic walkers and families racing alongside seasoned fell-runners. Sign up to one of the events as a family, a couple, a group or challenge yourself and join us on Saturday 2 June amidst the stunning surroundings of Grasmere village and Rydal water.
Rest assured that the money raised from the Grasmere Gallop will go to good use in the very area that you’ll be running – we’ll invest it back into our conservation work, continuing our mission to save Grasmere’s beloved red squirrels.
Unfortunately our native red squirrels are in danger of extinction in England and Grasmere is one of the few remaining places in England where they still thrive. We’ve been working with Grasmere Red Squirrel Group to help make the area their ideal home.
We are pleased to say that the red squirrel population is slowly increasing due to the hard work of the local community and businesses, Grasmere Red Squirrel Group and the National Trust all working closely together. If you would like to spot a red squirrel, head up to Allan Bank.
Go the extra mile for the Grasmere reds and sign up today.
There are 900 tickets on sale, 200 of which will be assigned to Nordic Walkers. The event usually sells out so book fast.
Thank you for your support.
