It takes many hands to keep Antony special. We have a dedicated team of volunteers working as room guides and garden volunteers and we're looking for more.
We need your help to bring to life a beautiful, still lived-in family home. As a volunteer at Antony you will enjoy chatting to visitors and giving a warm welcome so visitors come back to visit time and time again.
Volunteers at Antony are invited to a range of events including days out, a summer bbq and a Christmas lunch. After fifty hours service, volunteers benefit from discounts at National Trust retail and catering outlets as well as free entry to all National Trust places.
" I have learned a lot but also smile a lot! I enjoy meeting up with the other guides and talking to visitors. You give a little but get back much more."
A room guiding shift begins at 12.15pm on an afternoon when we're open, either Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday. After being briefed by the house supervisor about what's happening that day you will then go to your assigned room at 12.30pm in time for house opening. The room rota changes each week so you have the chance to experience each of the rooms including welcoming visitors in the porch. Room guides are given a fifteen minute break in the afternoon. The most important part of room guiding is to put visitors at ease by being warm and friendly. You will learn about the house from information provided and talking to other room guides. It is not essential to be a history expert to be a good room guide.
If you think this opportunity could be for you then search and apply online at National Trust Volunteering or alternatively call the property office on 01752 812 191.
