Support the transformation of Sutton Hoo

Sutton Hoo is home to one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time. We want to preserve the history of this ancient landscape, whilst transforming the experience for our contemporary audiences.

Help us reveal an incredible story

Sutton Hoo is such a significant site in our nation's history. Often referred to as page one of English history, it was here that the incredible story of the ship burial of an Anglo-Saxon king and his treasured possessions is told. But now we need your help to bring this story to life, so more people can immerse themselves in history and discover the story of their ancestors.

Turning the pages of time

There are many chapters to our story

  • Our main story begins 1300 years ago
  • It wasn't until 1939 that treasure was unearthed
  • Today we welcome over 100,000 visitors and 75 schools each year
" We want to enrich and enhance the experience people have when visiting Sutton Hoo. This special place is about so much more than the treasure, it tells the hugely significant story of how the first English people lived their lives. "
- Allison Girling, Property Operations Manager
